Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, April 2006 : Snapshots from the 2006 Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, which takes place each April (it lasts all month) in the town of Mount Vernon, about an hour's drive from Seattle. Most pictures were taken at a place called Roozengaarde, which is probably the most popular display garden in the area. A few pictures were taken in the tulip fields surrounding Roozengaarde. The place was beautiful, the incredible crowds of visitors were the only annoyance (but that's what happens when one goes there during the weekend, as we did). Wiekszosc zdjec byla zrobiona w miejscu zwanym Roozengaarde, ktore jest chyba najpopularniejszym ogrodem wystawowym w okolicy. Pare zdjec zrobilem na polach tulipanow wokol Roozengaarde. To piekne miejsce i tylko niesamowite tlumy zwiedzajacych byly troche irytujace - ale coz, nalezy sie tego spodziewac, jesli sie tam pojedzie w weekend.

Discovery Park, Seattle, January 3, 2005 : Pare fotek z naszej pierwszej wycieczki do Discovery Park w roku 2005 (3 stycznia). Pogoda byla ladna, slonecznie (co nie zdarza sie w Seattle czesto zima) i chlodno (pare stopni ponizej zera). Bylo to w czasie glebokiego odplywu, ktory odslonil interesujace "falki" na piaszczystym dnie przy plazy poludniowej. Owe falki sa wlasnie glownym tematem tej galerii. Mozna by je melodramatycznie nazwac "odciskami palcow boga". A few pictures from our first trip to Discovery Park in 2005 (January 3rd). The weather was great, very sunny (which is uncommon in Seattle in winter) and cold (a few degrees above freezing). The pictures were taken during a very low tide, which revealed interesting "wavelets" in the sand off the south beach. These wavelets are the main subject of this gallery. Melodramatically, they could be called "fingerprints of god".

Mt. Rainier National Park, September-October 2004 : Mt. Rainier National Park jest zaledwie 2 ggodziny i 15 minut jazdy od naszego mieszkania, tak wiec mozna robic wypady jednodniowe. Miejsce jest piekne, a gora o wysokosci 4392 m warta zobaczenia. Jak dotychczas bylismy tam dwa razy: 6 wrzesnia i 2 pazdziernika 2004. Drugi wyjazd byl chyba dzien czy dwa po malej erupcji Mount St. Helens. Mielismy nadzieje zobaczyc wybuch (St. Helens jest widoczna ze szlaku, ktory zrobilismy), ale widac bylo tylko lekka mgielke. Podczas obydwu wypadow zrobilismy bardzo ladna trase zwana Skyline Trail (ze skrotem przez Golden Gate Trail) w rejonie zwanym Paradise (Raj), ktory jest najpopularniejszym i najbardziej zatloczonym miejscem w parku. Na szczescie liczba turystow maleje dosc szybko ze wzrostem wysokosci. Obie wycieczki zajely jakies 3.5 godziny, roznica wzniesien okolo 500 metrow. Pogoda i widoki byly wspaniale. Dwie panoramki ze Skyline Trail (jedna z Mt. St. Helens) sa takze w galerii "Panoramas". Mt. Rainier National Park is within a 2 h and 15 min drive from our apartment, so one-day trips are possible. The place is spectacular and the 14,410 foot mountain definitely worth seeing. So far we went there twice: on September 6 and October 2, 2004. Our second trip was a day or two after a small eruption of Mount St. Helens. We were hoping to see an eruption (Mount St. Helens is visible from the trail we hiked), but all we saw was a little haze. During both trips we hiked the Skyline Trail (with a shortcut via the Golden Gate Trail) in the Paradise Area, which is the most popular and crowded part of the park. Luckily, the number of tourists drops fairly quickly as the altitude increases. Both hikes were around 3.5 hours, with elevation gain of 1700 feet. The weather and the views were great. Two panoramas from the Skyline Trail (one with Mt. St. Helens visible) are also in the "Panoramas" gallery.

Discovery Park, Seattle : Discovery Park jest uwazany za jeden z ladniejszych parkow w Seattle. Jest nad brzegiem ciesniny (zatoki?) Puget, ze swietnymi widokami na gory Olympic i Mt. Rainier (jak pogoda dopisuje). Zdjecia byly robione podczas naszych wielokrotnych wizyt w parku od czerwca do pazdziernika 2004. Discovery Park is considered to be one of the best parks in Seattle. It is a waterfront park on the Puget Sound, with excellent views of the Olympic Mountains and Mt. Rainier (on clear days). The photos were shot during our numerous visits in the park in from June to October 2004.

Rattlesnake Lake & Ledge (Jezioro Grzechotnikow, Polka Grzechotnikow) : Rattlesnake Lake i Ledge (czyli Jezioro Grzechotnikow i Polka - skalna - Grzechotnikow) to b. popularna atrakcja turystyczna jakies 35 mil na wschod od Seattle, w poblisu autostrady I-90. Bylismy tam dwa razy, za pierwszym razem pogoda nie dopisala (bylo deszczowo), za drugim bylo pieknie. Zdjecia byly robione 30 maja (pierwsze 6 zdjec) i 20 czerwca 2004 (wtedy weszlismy). Rattlesnake Lake & Ledge are popular tourist destinations some 35 miles east of Seattle, along I-90. We visited the place twice, during the first visit the weather was bad (it started to rain), during the second it was perfect. The pictures were taken on May 30, 2004 (first six pictures) and on June 20, 2004 (when we climbed the Ledge).

Deception Pass State Park (park stanowy Deception Pass) : Park stanowy Deception Pass znajduje sie okolo 125 kilometrow na polnoc od Bothell (gdzie mieszkamy) , na wyspie Whidbey w zatoce (ciesninie?) Puget, nad ktora lezy rowniez Seattle. Park jest bardzo zatloczony w weekendy, z prostej przyczyny: jest tam bardzo pieknie. Zdjecia byly robione 24 lipca 2004 i 1 sierpnia 2004 (ostatnie 7 zdjec w galerii). Deception Pass State park is around 85 miles north of Seattle, on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound. The park is very crowded on weekends, but there is a very good reason: the place is just beautiful. Photos taken on July 24, 2004 and August 1, 2004 (last 7 pictures in the gallery).
